Typical Column Properties

What's on this page?

In the table below, typical properties like flow, pressure, sample load and sample volume of columns of different diameter, length and particle diameter can be found. These values can be used to estimimate scaling factor for scaling your HPLC method. To calculate the void volume of a HPLC column, use the void volume calculator below.
 

Void volume

Enter the diameter and length and click 'calculate' to calculate the column void volume. The pore volume of 0.7 is a good average for HPLC columns, but you can enter a different value for this. For the calculation, the following formula is used:
